Winter Activities for Kids in Brossard

Skating rinks, Fest-Hiver, the library, swimming, spring break and family outings: the best ways to keep kids busy in winter in Brossard.

Updated October 31, 2026 · 1 min read

Winter is long on the South Shore, but Brossard has no shortage of ideas to keep kids active. Here are the must-dos, both outdoors and indoors.

Outdoor skating

As soon as the cold sets in, the City sets up outdoor rinks in several parks. Check our guide to Brossard’s outdoor skating rinks to find the closest one and check ice conditions.

Brossard’s Fest-Hiver

Every February, parc Sorbonne hosts the Fest-Hiver, a free winter festival for families: kids’ shows, skating, snowshoeing, mini-slides, ice sculptures, snow games and evening fireworks. Some activities, like the urban sugar shack, may have a fee. The City announces the dates early in the year.

Indoor skating and sports

  • public skating sessions at the aréna Michel-Normandin;
  • swimming lessons and public swims at the Complexe aquatique;
  • classes and activities from the winter program, with online registration in December.

All the details are in our guide to the library, arenas and recreation.

Bibliothèque Georgette-Lepage (public library)

Story time, workshops, board games, video games and thousands of books and comics: the library is the perfect free outing on a stormy day.

Spring break

During spring break week, the City offers camps and special activities. Registration opens a few weeks ahead: keep an eye on the program. See also day camps in Brossard.

Family outings

Dressing for the cold

Snowsuit, spare mittens, tuque, neck warmer and warm boots: dress in layers and change out of wet clothes quickly. In extreme cold, keep outings short and take breaks somewhere warm.
