In summer, drinking water use shoots up because of lawn watering. To protect the water system, the City of Brossard regulates watering hours and days.
Allowed hours
Watering with a hose or an automatic system is allowed only from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. the next day.
Days based on your address
- Even civic number: Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
- Odd civic number: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
- Monday: no watering for anyone
The same rules apply to hoses and automatic systems. If you have a programmable system, check its settings at the start of the season.
Good habits
- a healthy lawn needs about one watering a week; too much water makes grass more fragile;
- wash your car with a bucket and sponge rather than a hose;
- fill the pool to about 15 cm from the edge to avoid overflowing;
- collect rainwater for flower beds;
- leave your grass a bit longer in summer: it handles the heat better.
New lawns and special cases
Laying sod, seeding or filling a pool may be subject to special rules. If in doubt, contact Services Brossard at 450 923-6311 before you start.
During a drought
During heat waves or drops in water pressure, the City may impose a temporary watering ban. Follow the City’s notices and alerts.
