Heading off on a trip and want to get to Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) from Brossard without taking the car? You can do it by public transit, combining the REM with STM bus route 747. This guide explains the route, the published travel times and which ARTM fares to use, and gives an update on the future REM airport station. Last checked: October 2026.

At a glance

  • As of October 2026, the REM’s airport branch is not yet in service: Aéroports de Montréal is aiming to open the station in 2027.
  • The current route: REM from Brossard to downtown, then STM bus 747 to the airport.
  • Route 747 runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; the trip takes 45 to 70 minutes from downtown depending on traffic.
  • On the 747, the ARTM accepts 24-hour, 3-day, weekly, monthly and 4-month fares, but not 1- or 2-trip fares.
  • The 24-hour All modes AB fare costs $13.75 (ARTM, July 2026).
  • Leave plenty of margin: door to door, it can easily take more than an hour and a half.

The REM airport station: where do things stand?

The REM project includes a station beneath Montréal-Trudeau airport, on a branch that splits off the main line in the west of the island. As of October 2026, this branch is not yet open to passengers. In October 2025, Aéroports de Montréal reiterated that it was aiming to deliver the station in 2027, after which CDPQ Infra will need to run tests before service begins. In April 2026, the station was described as about 85% complete, with the first passengers expected by the end of 2027.

In other words, for a trip in 2026, you’ll need to plan a bus connection. Watch for announcements from the REM and Aéroports de Montréal for the official opening date.

The recommended route: REM + bus 747

Step 1: REM from Brossard to downtown

Board at Brossard, Du Quartier or Panama station and get off at Gare Centrale. According to the REM, the trip from Brossard takes less than 18 minutes. Trains run about every 3 min 30 s at rush hour and every 7 min 30 s the rest of the time. The first departures from Brossard station are around 5:30 a.m.: for a very early flight, check the REM schedule. See our guide to Brossard’s REM stations.

Step 2: bus 747 to the airport

The STM’s 747 YUL Aéroport Montréal-Trudeau/Centre-ville route runs 24 hours a day, year-round. According to Tourisme Montréal, it has two variants:

  • 747 Downtown: about a dozen stops downtown. Since January 26, 2026, its terminus has been on boulevard René-Lévesque at the corner of rue Berri. Travel time: 45 to 70 minutes.
  • 747 Metro: departs from Lionel-Groulx metro station, with a travel time of 30 to 35 minutes.

From Gare Centrale, you have two options: walk to a 747 stop on boulevard René-Lévesque, or take the metro (orange line, Bonaventure station, near Gare Centrale) to Lionel-Groulx for the Metro variant. Check the STM website for the exact stop locations and the service periods of each variant.

Add waiting time, connections and the time it takes to get to your Brossard station. When catching a flight, a generous margin is essential, especially at rush hour or when there are road closures.

Which fare should you use?

Route 747 has special fare rules. According to the ARTM, 24-hour, 3-day, weekly, monthly and 4-month fares are accepted, while 1- and 2-trip fares are not among the authorized fares. Paying cash on board the 747 costs $11.25 (ARTM, 2026).

For a one-way trip from Brossard, the 24-hour All modes AB fare is generally the simplest solution: it covers the REM from zone B, the metro and, under ARTM rules, the 747. If you already have an AB monthly pass, it is accepted on the 747. Confirm your choice with the ARTM’s fare selector or the Chrono app before you leave.

Tips for a stress-free trip

  • Load your fare before leaving (Chrono app, REM vending machines or the Panama terminus ticket office).
  • Check the REM’s service status: a planned interruption can lengthen the trip.
  • With lots of luggage, choose stations with elevators; according to the REM, Brossard and Du Quartier stations have them.
  • If you leave your car at a station, find out about long-term parking rules; see our guide to REM park-and-ride lots.
  • For a night or very early flight, compare with a taxi or driving: the REM doesn’t run overnight.
