Where can you get care if you live in Brossard and don’t have a family doctor (yet)? Who do you call for advice at night? Which hospital serves the city? This guide brings together the public health resources useful to Brossard residents: the Guichet d’accès à un médecin de famille (family doctor waiting list), the Guichet d’accès à la première ligne (GAP, primary care access point), Info-Santé 811, the local CLSC and the regional hospital. It does not replace medical advice: in an emergency, call 911. Last checked: October 2026.

The health network serving Brossard

Brossard falls under the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre, which is part of Santé Québec. This territory includes Brossard, Chambly, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Lacolle, among others, according to a Government of Quebec announcement from September 2024. This network runs the local CLSC, the regional hospital and several primary care services.

Finding a family doctor: the GAMF

The Guichet d’accès à un médecin de famille (GAMF) is the provincial waiting list for being taken on by a family doctor or a primary care specialized nurse practitioner (IPSPL). According to Québec.ca, to register you must:

  • have a valid health insurance card;
  • not already have a family doctor or IPSPL;
  • live at the address on file with the RAMQ;
  • be 14 or older (a person aged 14 or older can register a child under 14).

You can register online, on the GAMF or in Carnet santé Québec, or by phone with the office for your area. Details are on the Guichet d’accès à un médecin de famille page. If you’ve just moved to Brossard, update your address with the RAMQ first.

In the meantime: the Guichet d’accès à la première ligne (GAP)

The GAP is for people without a family doctor or IPSPL, as well as those registered with a family medicine group. It assesses your need and directs you to the right resource: pharmacy, support program, home care or an appointment with a professional when necessary.

  1. Fill out the GAP online form to request a callback, or dial 811, option 3, to get help with the form. The phone service is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and statutory holidays.
  2. Stay available: a health worker will call you back, with up to three attempts. You can accept the call, ask for another time or cancel.
  3. Get directed to a resource or given an appointment. To cancel an appointment obtained through the GAP, use the Rendez-vous santé Québec website.

All the details are on the Guichet d’accès à la première ligne page (updated April 2026). If you already have a family doctor, contact their clinic first.

Info-Santé and Info-Social 811

811 is free and confidential. With option 1 (Info-Santé), a nurse assesses your condition and advises you on care at home or directs you to the right service. Parents of children aged 0 to 17 have a dedicated line for a faster response. Info-Social 811 puts you in touch with a psychosocial worker, also 24 hours a day. See the Info-Santé 811 and Info-Social 811 pages.

The local CLSC: Samuel-de-Champlain

CLSC Samuel-de-Champlain (local community service centre) is located on Boulevard Taschereau in Brossard. According to the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre’s routine services brochure (2025), services offered by appointment include:

  • blood tests;
  • wound care and follow-up;
  • administration of certain injectable or intravenous medications;
  • care for catheters, urinary catheters, ostomies and pessaries;
  • removal of staples or stitches.

Appointments are booked through the central line provided by the CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre. For mental health, the government announced in September 2024 that all CLSCs in this territory offer walk-in or phone services, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (announcement on Québec.ca). Check current hours on the CISSS website before you go.

The hospital: Charles-LeMoyne, in Greenfield Park

Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne is not in Brossard: it’s on Boulevard Taschereau, in Longueuil’s Greenfield Park borough, close to Brossard. It is a centre affiliated with the Université de Sherbrooke, with an emergency room open 24 hours a day and a role as a trauma centre. For an urgent problem, go to the emergency room or call 911. For a problem that can wait, 811 and the GAP can often help you avoid a long wait in the ER.
