Brossard is well placed for further studies: several private schools and two major CEGEPs (Quebec’s pre-university and technical colleges) are just minutes away, in Saint-Lambert and Longueuil. Here’s an overview for parents and students.

Private high schools near Brossard

  • Collège Durocher Saint-Lambert, in Saint-Lambert;
  • Collège Charles-Lemoyne, which has a Longueuil–Saint-Lambert campus;
  • other private schools are located elsewhere on the South Shore, notably in Longueuil.

For public schools, see our guide to Brossard high schools: several public schools offer special programs (sports-study, arts, international) that are also selective.

How private school admissions work

  • open houses are held mainly in September and October;
  • most schools hold an entrance exam in the fall of Grade 6;
  • have your child’s Grade 5 and Grade 6 report cards ready;
  • visit several schools: school transportation, schedules, extracurricular activities and fees vary a lot.

In Quebec, many private schools are subsidized, which lowers tuition. Other costs still need to be included in the family budget: uniforms, transportation, supplies, trips.

Nearby CEGEPs

  • Champlain College Saint-Lambert: a public English-language CEGEP in Saint-Lambert, right next to Brossard.
  • Cégep Édouard-Montpetit: a large French-language CEGEP in Longueuil, which also includes the École nationale d’aérotechnique in Saint-Hubert.

CEGEP applications are generally submitted early in the year for the fall semester. Many CEGEPs in the region go through the Service régional d’admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM). Check the dates on each institution’s website.

University

Université de Sherbrooke has a campus in Longueuil, near the metro. The REM also connects Brossard to downtown Montreal in minutes, which makes Montreal’s universities very accessible.
