Japanese cuisine is known for its emphasis on fresh ingredients, minimal use of oil, and a balance of flavors. Some of the specialties found in traditional Japanese restaurants include:

  • Sushi: Sushi is a dish made with vinegared rice and various ingredients such as raw fish, seafood, vegetables, and egg.
  • Sashimi: Sashimi is thinly sliced raw fish or seafood, usually served with soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger.
  • Ramen: Ramen is a Japanese dish made with Chinese-style wheat noodles in a meat or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and topped with ingredients such as sliced pork, dried seaweed, and green onions.
  • Tempura: Tempura is a dish made by deep-frying seafood, meat, and vegetables in a light batter made from flour and water.
  • Yakitori: Yakitori is skewered and grilled chicken, usually flavored with soy sauce and mirin.
  • Udon: Udon is a thick wheat noodle, often served in a mild, soy-based broth with various toppings such as tempura, green onions, and grated ginger
  • Bento: Bento is a traditional Japanese lunch box filled with various foods such as rice, fish or meat, and vegetables.
  • Takoyaki : Takoyaki is a ball-shaped snack filled with diced octopus and tempura scraps, and topped with green onion, pickled ginger, and sauce.

These are just a few examples of the many delicious dishes that can be found in Japanese restaurants. Japanese cuisine also includes a variety of soups, salads, and side dishes.
